Cava Grill heading to Gaithersburg; Capriotti’s signs for Rosslyn

Capriotti’s, the Delaware favorite sandwich franchise that made a splash when it opened in D.C. last year thanks to an opening day visit from Vice President Joe Biden, has signed a lease for 1500 Wilson Blvd. in Rosslyn.

It’s the first retail tenant announced for the building, which recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation. Miller Walker Retail Real Estate represented Capriotti’s; John Asadoorian of Asadoorian Retail Solutions represented the landlord, Penzance Cos.

Local Capriotti’s franchisee George Vincent Jr. is also working on locations in Georgetown, Capitol Hill and College Park.

The team behind fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant Cava Grill has signed another lease, this one in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg. The location is expected to open this summer.

It will be the seventh Cava Grill from owners Ike GrigoropoulosTed Xenohristosand Dimitri Moshovitis. Five locations are already open and a sixth in D.C.’s Chinatown neighborhood is under construction.

The company will likely be in expansion mode for the next year or so, after raising $3 million in investment last year. The owners also operate three locations of Cava Mezze, a full-service restaurant concept, and sell ready-to-eat food products under the Cava brand at Whole Foods.
